These are a great thing to combine with metal shelving, a desk, or camping although don't stick them to paintwork you value as they're really strong. If you wanted to run a rope or cable and have it out of the way, they'd work well for that. And stuck on steel or a whiteboard they'll stay in place really well, given the size. Bear in mind that the thickness of the paint between your magnet, and the metal, greatly affects how strong the attraction is. Thickly painted or plastic coated metalwork will give you a weaker connection. So in many circumstances these will only be suitable for relatively light weight - you might hang up an empty tote bag on one but probably not a full one. They'll slide laterally more easily than they'll pull of directly so something that's hanging from them if they're under a shelf, will be more likely to work than putting them on the side of the shelf. Overall, they're great for what they are if you have a use case you can think of. If you need to put one on paracord and drop it somewhere to pick things up, it's more than capable of lifting up my pen knife which is a thick metal lock knife, as an example of a potential use.
